UPDATE (1 June 2021) | Operation of Law Firms
During “Total Lockdown Phase 1”

We refer to Circular No 197/2021 entitled “Operation of Law Firms During the “Total Lockdown Phase 1”” dated 30 May 2021.

We have been communicating with the office of YB Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) and Bahagian Hal Ehwal Undang-Undang Jabatan Perdana Menteri (“BHEUU”) (Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister’s Department) since 31 May 2021.  We expressed concerns of the Bar over the difficulties facing legal practitioners following the non-inclusion of the legal profession as an essential service and provided them with feedback.

We have received a copy of the media statement issued today (1 June 2021) by YB Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan entitled “SOP Perkhidmatan Guaman Sepanjang Tempoh Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan Fasa Pertama”.  Please click here (see pages 2 and 3) to view the media statement.

Law firms are required to comply with the standard operating procedures (“SOP”) set out in the media statement, during the “Total Lockdown Phase 1”.
