Temporary Closure of Bar Council Secretariat and Advocates and Solicitors Disciplinary Board Secretariat Due to “Total Lockdown Phase 1”

We refer to the announcement made by the Prime Minister on Friday (28 May 2021) pertaining to the implementation of the “Total Lockdown Phase 1” throughout the country from 1 June until 14 June 2021.

Following the announcement, Senior Minister (Security) and Defence Minister, YB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, announced on 30 May 2021 that only essential services and sectors are allowed to operate during the “Total Lockdown Phase 1”.

(1) Temporary Closure of the Bar Council (“BC”) Secretariat, BC Library and Advocates and Solicitors Disciplinary Board (“ASDB”) Secretariat

(i) BC Secretariat

Although the physical building at Wisma Badan Peguam Malaysia will be closed, members of the BC Secretariat staff will be working remotely.

To contact the Secretariat, please call the general line at 03-2050 2050, or send an email to council@malaysianbar.org.my.

(ii) BC Library

Kindly be informed that while the physical library is closed, we are still able to undertake some of our services to Members, such as those relating to cases and legislation.

Members who require cases and legislation can send an email to library@malaysianbar.org.my or call the Library at 03-2050 2084, and the Library staff will respond to these requests.

(iii) ASDB Secretariat

Please note that while the physical premises of the ASDB Secretariat will be closed, members of its staff will be working remotely.
