Limited Operations of LHDN and SSM During
“Total Lockdown Phase 1” Period and Other Information

(1)    Updates on LHDN and SSM

Please take note of the limited operations of Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri Malaysia (“LHDN”) (Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia), and Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (“SSM”) (Companies Commission of Malaysia) during the “Total Lockdown Phase 1” period, details which can be found here and here, respectively.

We have also written to LHDN and SSM to request for an extension of time and waiver of penalty to submit or file relevant documents and make payments, with regard to matters relating to each agency and ancillary to conveyancing practice.

LHDN’s latest “Frequently-Asked-Questions” document, which takes into account such instances, can be found here.

We would also like to inform Members that the latest information (which may include other Bar Council circulars) regarding LHDN, SSM, Lembaga Pembiayaan Perumahan Sektor Awam (“LPPSA”) and other government agencies during the Movement Control Order (“MCO”) period, can be found on the Malaysian Bar website here.

(2)    Information on Land Registries

We refer to the updated Circular No 172/2021 entitled “Operating Hours and Restrictions in Transactions in Land Registries and District Land Offices” dated 31 May 2021, where we have informed Members that updates to land offices during the MCO period can be found on the Malaysian Bar website here.

We have further written to State Bar Committees to encourage them to be proactive with their respective land offices in securing the relevant protocols and obtaining relevant waiver of penalties for late presentation of documents.
