Feedback on Data Compliance Report 2020 issued by Bank Negara Malaysia and Pre On-Site Information Requested by Bank Negara Malaysia in relation with AML/CFT Compliance

We refer to Circular No 170/2020 dated 29 May 2020 entitled “Issuance of Data Compliance Report 2020 by Bank Negara Malaysia” and Circular No 222/2020 dated 10 July 2020 entitled “Issuance of Data Compliance Report 2020 by Bank Negara Malaysia”.

The Bar Council received queries and concerns from Members with regards to the Data Compliance Report (“DCR”) issued by Bank Negara Malaysia (“BNM”) last year. 

Members have also raised their concerns on the manner in which the on-site examinations were conducted and the information requested by BNM.

We wish to seek your feedback on the DCR 2020 and on the on-site examination in order for us to raise the concerns with BNM.
