Remand Extension Cases under Section 259 of the Criminal Procedure Code via Video Conferencing
The Chief Registrar’s Office of the Federal Court of Malaysia had issued a media statement on 7 Oct 2020 entitled “Pengendalian Kes-Kes Pelanjutan Reman di bawah Seksyen 259 Kanun Tatacara Jenayah [Akta 593] Melalui Kaedah Sidang Video”.
We would like to highlight to Members the part in the media statement where it states that remand extension cases under section 259 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Act 593) may be carried out via video conferencing if there are applications by the Prison Department and the current situation does not allow for remand applications to be done in person.
