Notification of Opening of New High Courts

The Chief Registrar of the Federal Court of Malaysia, Tuan Ahmad Terrirudin bin Mohd Salleh, has today extended to us an email entitled “Makluman Pembukaan Mahkamah-Mahkamah Baharu”, dated 3 July 2020.

We would like to highlight to Members the part in the email which lists the five new High Courts that will start operations from 13 July 2020.  The new High Courts are as follows:

(1) High Court of Sungai Petani, Kedah;
(2) High Court of Klang, Selangor;
(3) High Court (Criminal) of Kuala Lumpur;
(4) High Court (Criminal) of Shah Alam, Selangor; and
(5) High Court of Muar, Johore.

The list of the officers in charge at the above-mentioned Courts, and their contact details, are available here (see page 3).

MAKLUMAN PEMBUKAAN MAHKAMAH-MAHKAMAH BAHARU

YBhg. Tan Sri/Datuk/Dato’ Sri/Dato’/Tuan/Puan,

Dengan hormatnya perkara di atas dirujuk.

2.         Adalah saya diarahkan oleh YAA Tan Sri Tengku Maimun binti Tuan Mat, Ketua Hakim Negara dan YAA Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Azahar bin Mohamed, Hakim Besar Malaya untuk memaklumkan bahawa terdapat 5 Mahkamah Tinggi Malaya yang baharu akan mula beroperasi pada 13 Julai 2020. Mahkamah-Mahkamah Tinggi Malaya tersebut adalah seperti berikut:

(a) Mahkamah Tinggi Malaya di Sungai Petani, Kedah;
(b) Mahkamah Tinggi Malaya di Klang, Selangor;
(c) Mahkamah Tinggi Malaya (Jenayah) di Kuala Lumpur;
(d) Mahkamah Tinggi Malaya (Jenayah) di Shah Alam, Selangor; dan
(e) Mahkamah Tinggi Malaya di Muar, Johor.

3.         Walau bagaimanapun, kes-kes di bawah bidang kuasa Mahkamah Tinggi Malaya di Sungai Petani masih didengar di Kompleks Mahkamah Alor Setar sehingga 15 Ogos 2020, dan akan didengar di Mahkamah Tinggi Malaya di Sungai Petani secara sepenuhnya mulai
16 Ogos 2020.

4.         Sekiranya YBhg. Tan Sri/Datuk/Dato’ Sri/Dato’/Tuan/Puan mempunyai apa-apa pertanyaan, pihak YBhg. Tan Sri/Datuk/Dato’ Sri/Dato’/Tuan/Puan bolehlah berhubung dengan pegawai-pegawai seperti di lampiran.
