Filing of Documents in English for Family Law Matters
Following a recent meeting between the Bar Council Family Law Committee and the Managing Judge of the High Court, YA Datuk Hasnah binti Dato’ Mohammed Hashim, the Managing Judge recently confirmed that the Registrar’s Circular No 5 of 1990 (Pekeliling Pendaftar No 5 Tahun 1990), which is dated 28 July 1990 and accessible here, remains valid, as far as matrimonial proceedings are concerned.
As the Bahasa Malaysia translation of the Divorce and Matrimonial Proceedings Rules 1980 has yet to be gazetted, all cause papers may be filed in English.
